New York insurance review

Workers’ compensation insurance for New York employers

Start with who works for your business and what each person does. Accurate payroll and job descriptions help the brokerage prepare a submission and identify questions that need clarification before a quote can be compared.

USA INSURANCE POLICY BROKERAGE INC. · NY corporate broker license BR-2000793. New York coverage availability depends on carrier, product and applicant eligibility and underwriting. An inquiry is not a binder or confirmation of coverage.

Check the requirement for your situation

The New York Workers’ Compensation Board says virtually all New York employers must provide coverage for their employees. Exceptions depend on the entity and the people doing the work. Tell us about owners, officers, part-time staff, family members and subcontractors rather than assuming they are excluded.

Organize payroll by work performed

Provide estimated annual payroll, employee counts, a description of each job and every state where work occurs. Note seasonal work and expected hiring. If you have a current policy or payroll audit, provide it through the secure request portal after submitting the basic form.

Prepare for renewal and changes

Share your existing expiration date, known claims history and planned operational changes. Ask what documentation the proposed insurer requires, how payroll estimates are handled and which proof-of-coverage forms are appropriate for your permit or contract. A website request does not renew or bind coverage.

Questions before you start

Should I include part-time workers?

Tell the brokerage about everyone performing work, including part-time and seasonal staff. Coverage obligations depend on the actual relationship and applicable rules.

What if my payroll is only an estimate?

Mark it as an estimate and explain the basis. Provide updated figures when available and ask how the proposed policy handles payroll changes and audits.
